Special Features
- Hovenia dulcis is a species in the family Rhamnaceae with deciduous broad leaves, and is a very large tree that grows up to 1m in diameter.
- The Compendium of Materia Medica (Ben Cao Gang Mu, 1596), an old Chinese medicine book, stated that the brown fruit, about 8mm in diameter, has a subtle scent, sweet taste, and is effective on alcohol toxins, and the raw juice relieves alcohol toxicity, and stops nausea.
- Currently, in Korea, hovenia dulcis has been proven as safe, and is classified as general food that can be taken by anyone. The safety evaluations showed all safe results.
